Here are some guidelines when writing an essay:
1. Think before You Write
Think about the main topic you're writing about.
2. Start Your Essay with a Clear Focus
Focus on the main topic itself and give informative details.
3. Build Your Story
Write an essay that will stand against the crowd.
4. End Strong
End your essay by giving a boom on the main point you started with.
5. Hear It Out
Find out if your essay caught the reader's attention. |

Hi this gives really good advice and will be useful to a lot of people. I think many people find essay writing very difficult and it doesn't need to be difficult if you put your mind to it. I think you need to be organised and organise your time well so you have plenty of time to write the essay. You need to organise the actual essay into sections and plan the essay out before actually writing it, but once you have carried through all the planning of the actual essay it should almost write itself because it has been planned so well. Thanks for this info. |

Number four, especially, is applicable not only in essay writing, but in most disciplines: speechwriting, music, novel writing, screenwriting, playwriting... it's very important to have people's first and last impression of you (or your writing) stand out: if they don't like the beginning, they won't be interested in the rest, and if you don't end strong, you will be easily forgotten, even if the rest of your essay was a gem. Great tips! |

Great tips the only other thing I add while essay writing is to have good thesis statement. This helps me keep on track while writing my essay and keep the essay on focus. |

These are indeed good tips for writing in general but they can really help out an essay as well. I find that the reading aloud part is especially applicable if you're stuck on a phrase that doesn't quite work. Hearing yourself read it is usually enough to see if there's a real problem. |
