i have to write history essay, but really do not know how to start and would like to know more about the format of the essay as much as possible. This is the first time i have to write history essay and would appreciate any help. thankx in advance.  |

Hi Meelah! To be honest I don't know the exact format in writing an history essay but based on my experienced I used to start my history essay with an introduction. A short background which describe my subject. Then after that i would create a summary of the investigation I've done which came from consolidated insights of people involve. The last part of my essay will focus on my conclusion. My own point of view/reaction. And then that's it. |

The most important thing you can do is read, read, read. Start making notes as to what material you want to use and what books you want to read then jot down notes that you think would be relevant to your essay. Keep reading. Google Books is very good they have lot's of books for you to be going on with but, only include a few pages each. Once you have read and got your information it is time to write up a plan of action and then to get writing. You can always use Google to look up how to write a history essay. Also don't forget other search engines like Dogpile and Ask. Hope that this helps and all the best to you. |

There should be some Chicago Style guides online for the more technical aspects of writing a history essay and many of these pages will also have tips for newcomers in this department of writing. Take lots of notes because in history it's extremely important to be able to reference a lot of information in order to make your arguments well. |
